Inside the Jennie Fresa Beauty Library in Clinton

Not that I’m getting married any time soon {hint, hint, Stan!}, but I do like perusing wedding blogs like Ruffled, 100 Layer Cake, and Style Me Pretty for DIY ideas and inspiration. Plus, I just really love weddings. They are intensely happy occasions and it warms my heart to look at happy couples celebrating and sharing their love with their family and friends {I’m such a sap!}. Felt & Wire compiled a list of their favorite wedding blogs earlier this year, and that’s where I discovered Jennie Fresa and her eponymous Beauty Library. I was further encouraged to meet Jennie by my inspiring get-together with Ann Nyberg.

It took me a while to get down there, but I finally visited the antique-house-turned-makeup-studio/mini-spa in Clinton, CT, last Wednesday. I was warmly greeted by a cute little bench, then I turned right into the Jennie Fresa {pronounced fray-zuh} Beauty Library. Natural sunlight spilled into her studio, accentuating Jennie’s bright color scheme of chartreuse and turquoise, and the birds {think lovebirds} that can be found throughout the studio. Jennie greeted me and showed me around, filling me in on the history of the home — the oldest house in Clinton.

Jennie and I chatted for over two hours, and she told me all about how she became interested in makeup: “Girls would line up outside of my dorm room in college for me to do their makeup before we went out on Friday and Saturday nights,” she said, laughing. Jennie attended the University of Rhode Island for Human Development and Family Studies, but realized that wasn’t her passion. She began doing freelance makeup, working with local photographers, before attending the Institute of Aesthetic Arts and Sciences in Southbury. After a long road of working at MAC Cosmetics, then Trish McEvoy, Jennie was ready to spread her wings and begin her own business. She started the Jennie Fresa Beauty Library in 2006.

Wanting to create a special place for brides to call their own, Jennie opened her studio in the house in Clinton in 2008. Though the Jennie Fresa Beauty Library specializes in bridal beauty, it is a place for all women to escape to and enjoy a personalized and intimate beauty experience. Jennie has some really great stuff coming up on the horizon, so make sure you read her blog {where she always has great beauty & product tips} and become a fan of the Jennie Fresa Beauty Library on Facebook! And, of course, if you’re looking for a unique and secluded place to be beautified for your wedding day, or any other special day, stop by the red house at 110 East Main Street in Clinton, CT.
