Monday morning music: Jaymay

Jaymay

Stan introduced me to Jaymay {Jamie Seerman} last year through her popular song “Gray or Blue“, and I added her song “You Are the Only One I Love” to my Valen-tunes playlist. More notably, her song “Sea Green, See Blue” played during the How I Met Your Mother season two finale. I’m sad we missed her performance in Hamden last November, but hopefully we can catch her in Boston this May. The song below is off of her latest EP, 10UNDER2.

Monday Morning Music: Valen-tunes ♫

Valen-tunes Mix Tape Poor & Pretty

It’s time again for another installment Monday Morning Music, and just in time for a Valentine’s Day playlist. I’m a mushy-gushy romantic type, so there’s plenty of swoon-worthy indie tunes and tear-inducing movie love ballads in this mix.

Monday morning music: Indie Christmas

It has become a tradition for me to make a mix CD for my Dad on holidays or his birthday.  He introduced me to a lot of great music as I was growing up and I’m happy that I’ve been able to give back in the recent past. Last year, I made him an Indie Christmas cd. I fell in love with it, so I thought I’d share it with you.

Note: I couldn’t find all of the songs on MixTape.me, so here are a few that made my Dad’s CD but aren’t on the playlist:

  • The Winter Song ~ Eisley
  • Donde Esta Santa Claus? ~ Guster
  • Sleigh Ride ~ KT Tunstall
  • Up on the Housetop ~ Pomplamoose
  • My Dear Acquaintance {A Happy New Year} ~ Regina Spektor
  • The Christmas Waltz ~ She & Him
  • Star Star ~ The Swell Season
  • Sunshine for Christmas ~ That Band From Holland & Left Handed Orchestra
  • The First Snowflake ~ The Boy Least Likely To
  • Joy to the World ~ Timbre

What do you listen to, to get yourself in the holiday spirit?

Monday morning music: Mumford & Sons

Suzi introduced me to Mumford & Sons a while ago, but I only recently bought one of their albums. They are lovely though, perfect for waking up and getting inspired on a Monday morning. The music video that I’ve included below is a little different than some of the others. This is a mash-up of their tour in India in December 2009, but it’s a beautiful little film, and a good sampling of their music, too.

Have a happy Monday :)

Monday morning music: Courtney Marie Andrews

Mondays are hard, especially if you haven’t been getting enough sleep because you’re obsessed with reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Sure, the writing isn’t spectacular, but the characters have enthralled me nonetheless. Plus, I have been picturing Alexander Skarsgård as Christian Grey ever since E! put the idea into my head.

Anyways, I was going to post tips on how to throw your own 1920s party, but that will have to wait until later in the week. For now, enjoy some melancholy but beautiful music by Courtney Marie Andrews:
