International Beauty Show

So as you all heard, Sami and I went to New York this weekend.  My trip was business but I still had the best time.  The International Beauty Show was held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, which was a beautiful space! Day one was full of classes and learning.  I saw new techniques for color, cutting, styling and bridal make up.  These people are my professional idols!  I saw Nick Arrojo and his team work on classic hair cutting techniques and talk about our industry. I watched Eve Pearl, a 5 time emmy award winning make up artist.  Her class was awesome!  I watched her do Hi Definition makeup on two women of different races, amazing!  I got such great insight from her about the business.  So of course after that I went to her booth and bought some product.  Pretty great, I wore it the next day.jav

Day two was full of more educational classes.  First I went to Martin Parsons up styling class.  He was unreal and I loved him so much!!!  (Sara and I later got our picture taken with him!!!)  Then we went shopping!!!!  We looked at trade books, beauty supplies, smocks, make up, tools…pretty much everything!  I got a new pair of shears!  I can’t wait to use them at work!  Then it was back to class.  The last class of the day was Jon Gonazales.  His class was about personal growth as a hairdresser and how to enhance your career.  It was life changing.  He was so inspiring uplifting.  It really made me look at my career and start to realize the path that I had to take for success.

Any one who is in the industry has to go next year!  It was the most amazing city and beauty is all around there.

Messy Bun.

Why am I loving this hair style so much?  It’s so simple and quick, but right now it’s so in.  The messy bun worn right on top of the head is sweet.  For the gym, around the house….and it goes glam too.Picture-9-1

Here’s how I do it…(you need longish hair to pull this off).  Mine’s still kinda short but you get the point I’m sure. I also like to have bangs but either way it’s still cool.<3

Obsession: Red Hot

Red_Flying_Hair_by_PreciousJasRed has taken the back seat for way too long…and this season hot locks are my new obsession!  Anything from a lighter copper all the way to a deep red has me wanting a fiery change.  It’s like red is the new blonde…it’s come all the way from freckles and pigtails to sexy red waves.

The great thing about this trend is that you don’t have to commit to a completely new hair color.  Check out a salon and ask about a semi-permanent glaze.  It’ll warm up your hair and give you that red shine for the season, causing no damage. (beacause it fades after a while).

Talk about standing out.  Red is such a rarity and causes so much drama (without looking completely unnatural).  Coco Rocha definitely caused a stir when the model went from pretty brown to blazing beauty.CocoRochaVoguehair

Like it or not, (and I LOVE it) it’s cool to be warm this winter.

Audrey Kitching: One Mean Scene Queen

audrey

Hair stylist.makeup artist.model.designer, she’s stylish, original and completely self-made; Audrey Kitching does it all.  She rocks self made outfits highlighted with bright colors, sequins, feathers, obnoxious bows and rhinestones.   She thrifts along the streets of LA, unearthing hot vintage items.  Her very unique style can be extreme and tacky (in a good way) but she isn’t afraid to show it.  If Hello Kitty was a real person, her name would be Audrey Kitching.

Audrey’s huge mass of pink hair has come to be her trademark.  Consisting of a variety of extensions, colors and accessories, her hair has become the envy of scene girls everywhere.  I admit, I freakin’ love it too!  Being a makeup artist myself, I appreciate her daringness to test the boundaries of everyday makeup.  Audrey is the next pop culture icon to watch out for…so LOOK OUT, this girl is hot!
