Today's Threads: Killer vintage leaf belt

I got this new vintage {there’s an oxymoron for ya!} leaf belt from Jenny of loveyvintage and I put it on this morning and decided I needed to do an outfit post. So, there ya go — two Today’s Threads posts in one month! Also, don’t mind my dirty shoes. It was pouring all day today in Connecticut, but I had to wear them anyway.

Here’s what I wore today: Stripey button wedges: Roxy, Famous Footwear, $20. Skinny Jeans, Amethyst Jeans, Bob’s, $25. Leafy vintage belt: loveyvintage, traded for one cupcake soap. Cowl neck sweater top: Robin K., Marshalls $7.

Weekend Love: Fair banner & Collinsville

Every weekend in October has been insanely busy for me, but always in a good way. This past weekend, I made tons of cupcake soaps for the upcoming Manchester Art Association Craft Fair and I made my banner, woo! It’s very simple, but it will be up against a bright pink tablecloth, so I think it will be perfect:

Yesterday, I met Jill in Collinsville and acted as her assistant for a few minites during an engagement shoot, then modeled for a photoshoot for Jenny of loveycraft/loveyvintage {photos to come, but in the meantime, there’s a sneak peek at live intrepidly}. Both shoots were in Collinsville, which I love so much and never visit. That needs to change!

Main Street in Collinsville.

There was a Farmers Market going on! I bought some delicious 6 grain bread and some veggies for a salad.

And seriously, no one makes sandwiches better than LaSalle Market. I had a simple ham & swiss one.

I hope your weekend was swell!

Friday Faves: Halloween DIY Roundup

Halloween is 16 days away! Are you doing anything fun? I’m trying to convince Stan to go to Salem, but I’m not sure it’s in our budget. I’ve never been there for Halloween! Anyway, it’s Friday Faves time and here are some awesome Halloween-inspired crafts & DIYs I’ve found around the interwebs:

1. DIY Glitter Pumpkins via Posh Pixels Design Studio. I need to make these! Maybe I’ll pull a prank on Stan with them. He hates glitter… ;)

2. Hand Ice Cube in Punch via Real Simple. I wish we were hosting a Halloween party, because this is just too cool.

3. Glow Stick Lanterns via Lil Blue Boo. Cut glow stick. Pour in clean jar. Shake.

4. Candy Corn Manicure via The Beauty Department. Remember the easy mani/pedi Sani showed us? It involved the magic of tape. This one does, too.

5. Pumpkin Party Cooler via Martha Stewart. Wait, wait, you mean we can use pumpkins for practical purposes during Halloween? Yes, we can!

6. 20 Unique Pumpkin Ideas via c.r.a.f.t. For those of you who wish to stick to the traditional Halloween pumpkin usage and carve those suckers up, here are 20 interesting finished pumpkins to inspire you. My favorite is totally the puking one. Admittedly, this is partly because it is making my favorite emoticon: >_<

7. Halloween Apothecary Favor Bottles via Somewhere Splendid. Fill these with poison and hand them out like candy! No, I meant, fill these with candy and hand them out like poison! That still doesn’t sound right.

I can’t wait for Halloween Knights tomorrow at the Renaissance Faire! Happy weekend! xo

Today's Threads: Bow how I love you, pink ballerina skirt

Clearly, I like the pink/gray color scheme. After reading the comments on the last {scary} Today’s Threads, I decided to stay silly in my photos, hence the skirt-throwing and arms-waving. :)

Here’s what I wore today: Mary Jane wedges: Bongo, Uptown Consignment, $6. Gray tights: Forever 21, $8. Pink ballerina bow skirt: Forever 21, $18. Black button-up: hand-me-down. Ring: Forever 21, $3. Necklace: gift from my Nana <3. Headband: DIY {I took this bow from a gift box and slid it onto a black fabric headband, easy-peasy}.

25 ways to tie a scarf

Okay, this video is a little bit creepy. It reminds me of the Oompa Loompa dances in the newer, Tim Burton-directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I kind of love it. Fashion blogger Wendy of Wendy’s Lookbook did this neat video tutorial on 25 different ways to tie a scarf:

I tried a few of them myself, too. Here are my faves:

Note: I’m not entirely convinced I did “the celebrity” correctly, but it looks neat anyway! I think I need thinner scarves.
