Friday Faves 1.28.11: The Apartment

Stan and I are very, very excited to have our first apartment all to ourselves! While we’re still in the organization process, here are a few of my favorite things about our new place:

Jones Rainbow

My Jones Soda & candle rainbow is definitely my favorite piece of the new apartment. I thrive in an environment with lots of color. Color makes me happy, motivated, and inspired, and I like the harmony of rainbows. In case your interested in making this yourself, it’s just water with food coloring inside of the Jones bottles.

work space

Here’s my work space. See? Lots of color! Also, lots of fragrance oils and cupcake soaps. Of course, my office would not be complete without my Harry Potter collection and the wand my fellow HP-obsessed friend Ray whittled for me.

kitchen inspiration

Above are my favorite things found in the kitchen {okay, other than cooking/baking supplies!}. My new colorful apron with red heart pockets is so adorable. I got it at Target for only $10! The picture of cupcakes makes me smile every time I look at the fridge. I love the strawberry magnet my boss gave me, too {it was on top of a washcloth folded into the shape of a cupcake}. <3

bedroom

I also love hearts! The heart mirror I bought from Ikea for around $8 and I’ve got a few heart necklaces as well. I’m not a fan of jewelry boxes because everything gets all jangled and tangled up, so I hang my necklaces on the wall with pushpins. I totally stole this from my friend Jordan, who’s been doing this for years. Smart cookie.

New Cupcake Soap: Sweet Heart!

This is a shameless plug, but I have to say it: these are adorable. I love them so much I almost don’t want to sell them, but rather keep them and hide them all over the apartment {speaking of which – pics are coming on Friday!}. So, here they are, my new cupcake soaps: Sweet Heart. And they’ll only be available in the Cupcake Soap Shoppe until Valentine’s Day!

Smells sugary and sweet {but not overpowering!}, the base of these cupcakes have little soap hearts embedding inside of them. The “frosting” is decorated with exfoliating pink or red jojoba beads and topped off with another soap heart of the opposite color.

Skip the chocolate and roses this year — these are far cuter <3 Buy them here! Photography credits: Mayya Medved Photography.

California

So sorry I haven’t updated in a while. As I said on Facebook, I’ve been crazy busy with the trip to California {which was actually as much business as it was pleasure} and moving into an apartment with Stan! :D Here are a few photos from the California trip. See more after the jump!

Pacific Park1

Rajah

On Thursday, {December 30th}, Stan and I went to Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier to get my fortune from Rajah the Mystic Oracle and also hang out in the “sea of red” with University of Wisconsin fans {my uncle, who we stayed with, is an alum}. We’re not really into the football scene, but it was nice being outside after spending almost all of the previous day in planes and airports. Plus, look at that sunshine!

Stan Mirror2

Friday, we did some heavy shopping in downtown L.A. Actually, to both my and my aunt’s suprise, Stan did most of the shopping! He bought 5 really nice shirts and a few ties for his new job. I don’t have any photos of us shopping, but I do have this awesome one that I took in the car on the way there {above}. Because our bodies were still on eastern time, we went to bed before it was officially 2011 in California, but it was in Connecticut!
