La Petite France in West Hartford

Guess who’s obsessed with French Macaroons now? Me! I bought these today at La Petite France Bakery & Café in West Hartford. I ate the vanilla one, which is why it is not pictured, but I’m trying to be good and wait until after dinner to daintily devour the rest.

Who am I kidding? I will devour these suckers after I post this. In any case, you should stop by La Petite France! They’re right in West Hartford center and they have delicious sandwiches and desserts, of course. My sister Suzi took me out to lunch there today and we wanted to eat everything.

Local holiday shopping for everyone on your list

I’ve heard from a few readers and friends that they want to participate in the Conscientious Christmas Challenge, but they don’t really know of many independently-owned businesses in Connecticut. So, I’ve put together a list of places to shop, categorized by who might be on your list. Happy Holidays!

For the bookworm: Atticus Bookstore & Cafe (New Haven), The Book Barn (Niantic), The Book Rack (Vernon), R.J. Julia (Madison). If you can’t find books you’re looking for at any of these stores, skip Amazon and buy from Better World Books. They ship worldwide for free and, with every purchase, they donate a book to a child literacy program. Win-win!

For the chocolate connoisseur: Divine Treasures (Manchester), Knipschildt Chocolatier (Norwalk).

For the cupcake enthusiast: Bolo Bakery (Plainville), Sugarbelle (Glastonbury and West Hartford), Truffles Bakery and Kitchen (Farmington).

For the kiddies/kids at heart: Amato’s Toy and Hobby (Middletown and New Britain), Kiddly Winks (Canton), Once Upon a Child (Bristol, Danbury, Hamden, Manchester… they’re everywhere!), Toy Chest (West Hartford),

For the one that needs pampering/beauty queen: Apricot Blossom Therapeutic Massage (West Hartford), By the Sea (Branford, CT), Elle Nails & Spa (Middletown), envee salon & spa (Southington), Jennie Fresa makeup and skincare boutiquerie.

For the tea lover: The Green Teahouse (specializing in Chinese Tea Ceremonies, West Hartford) Simpson & Vale (Brookfield), Tisane (Hartford).

Got other ideas? Leave a comment! And don’t forget to submit your order to the Poor & Pretty Etsy shop by Friday, December 16th, to have it delivered in time for the holidays!

Details: More photos from MAA Craft Fair

Here are a few more photos of my booth from the Manchester Art Association Craft Fair. Big thanks to Jill of Live Intrepidly/60b Photography {who just celebrated her birthday!} for being my booth buddy and taking these awesome photos <3

Note the Avery’s soda in the background — our fuel for the day. I love Avery’s and all of their 35+ delicious flavors and  the fact that they don’t use high fructose corn syrup.

Check out that sweet {pun intended} cupcake apron! Thanks to my fabulous sister Suzi for letting me borrow it. <3

:) I can’t wait to do my next craft fair — the Brazen Betties Indie Craft Fair & Food Drive on Black Friday!

Sneak Peek of my booth & new products from Manchester Craft Fair

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been without power since Saturday night, and CL&P is estimating I won’t get it back until late Sunday night! Here’s a quick photo of my booth from last Saturday’s craft fair at Manchester Community College:

As you can see, I introduced a few new products at the fair, which I’m working on getting listed on Etsy. More photos to come! xo
