What is Poor & Pretty?

Poor & Pretty is a place for real chicks who are cool, fashionable, pretty, and smart, despite being broke and not living in super exciting big cities. Poor & Pretty’s goal is to show that poor chicks have opinions, do fun stuff, and can still look awesome, too.

Why “Poor & Pretty?”

There’s no heroic or amazingly cool story behind Poor & Pretty. It started in December 2009 by Mish & Sami, two 22-year-old chicks who like to write, read, design, knit, and bake cupcakes, among other things. We like to buy locally, support small businesses, try out new makeup and hairstyles, and keep up with fashion trends. But, we’re also broke. We’re hardworking gals, but we seem to never have any money. Probably because we have tons of bills to pay. We’re also not that great at budgeting, but we’re working on it. Honest.

Due to tons of work responsibilities and not enough free time on Mish’s part, Sami has taken over as Editor of Poor & Pretty. I’m striving to keep the content fresh and relevant while also making time for my busy life of school, work, and various acting projects. I love hearing feedback, suggestions for new content, and I’m accepting guest posts. Please, feel free to contact me for any of these things or just to chat! :)
