Do you remember 2GE+HER? It was an MTV movie mockumentary about a parody boy band of the same name that aired in February 2000. Even though the fictional boy band was created just for the movie (and a spin-off TV series), they released two albums that year, and I bought them both. You have to understand, I was in middle school and still listening to ‘NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, too. My friends and I were picking out our favorite boys (mine was Chad, the “shy one,” who later developed a meth addiction… go figure!) and attaching their last names to ours, as girls will do in middle school. We sang their hit song ”U + Me = Us (Calculus)” like it was our theme song. You have to watch the music video:
A few months later, for my 13th birthday, I received my very first camera. Immediately after opening it, my friends took photos of me staging the moves from “U + Me = Us.” I have taken these embarrassing photos, cropped them (but did not edit them in, so I still have horrifying red eyes), and turned them into an animated GIF for you. I should also note that a few weeks prior to these photos, I thought it would be a great idea to shave my eyebrows. It wasn’t.
I’m not sure which is the best part: the baby crib (not sure whose; Scarlett wasn’t born yet), vacuum, and kitty litter box in the background, or my choppy eyebrows, facial expressions, or demonic red eyes. Or my fantastic outfit:
I was totally cool at 13. Happy Friday! ;)
